Canopy by Hilton is a 140-unit hotel located in the heart of Downtown Austin. Dunaway provided civil engineering services on the hotel, which includes five suites and an open-air courtyard – connecting to a 3,393 square foot restaurant located on the ground floor. In addition to the amenities, the hotel also comes equipped with two levels of underground parking. Dunaway provided utility service design, sidewalk grading, water quality calculations, Site Development Permit processing, and License Agreement processing on the project.
Project Challenges
Traffic control plans in the central business district are complicated, but even more so for this project given it’s location along West 6th Street. The alley was full of existing aged utilities. This required extensive coordination with Austin Energy to install new conduits for telecom. This project also required Dunaway to design and coordinate a new water main located in West 6th Street.
