Robinson Intermediate School

Robinson Independent School District serves over 2,300 Central Texas students from Robinson, Golinda, and a portion of Falls County.  

The school district passed a $19.5 million bond package to include the funding for the design and construction of a new intermediate school campus to address the safety and electrical issues of the previous 50-year-old structure. The new intermediate school campus now accommodates fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. The 85,000-square-foot campus features a classroom wing, science labs, a cafeteria with a stage, a competition gymnasium, a band hall, and a large media room.  

Dunaway’s structural engineers partnered with the architectural firm, Claycomb Associates, to design the steel-frame intermediate school. Challenged by the poor soil condition of highly expansive clay soils in the region, Dunaway successfully designed a composite steel foundation, structurally suspended over a crawlspace. The superstructure is steel framed with moment frames throughout.
