The City of New Fairview is located on the western edge of Wise County, 30 miles north of Fort Worth. It was incorporated in 1973 to protect the residents’ rural lifestyle from the pending encroachment of Fort Worth suburban expansion.
Now that development pressure has arrived, the City leaders are depending on Dunaway’s planning and GIS expertise to guide the orderly development of the city. Zoning and subdivision plat reviews include special planned development regulations and Development Agreements in the ETJ.
As New Fairview has expanded into Denton County, additional planning and platting coordination has been needed. New planning related ordinances are coordinated with the city’s attorney. The challenges of growing into a city and transitioning from ranches and agricultural uses to commercial business and residential subdivisions is an on-going process.
