Omar Vasquez is a Civil Graduate Engineer at Dunaway’s Midland office. He joined Dunaway after graduating Cum Laude from UTPB with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In his current role, Omar is expanding his expertise by working closely with experienced professionals on diverse civil engineering projects in the WTX region. His engineering background in the energy sector, specifically in oil and gas, has equipped him with skills in construction management and infrastructure design. Omar’s passion for transitioning from Mechanical to Civil Engineering stems from his desire to design and influence the WTX community. Prior to joining Dunaway, he gained valuable experience as a Facilities/Project Engineer Intern at Endeavor Energy Resources, a Project Engineer at RAGLE INC, and a Petroleum Engineering Intern at Elevation Resources LLC. Omar is proficient in CAD Civil 3D and Solidworks, and he is responsible for providing technical support for the development and design of civil infrastructure projects, ensuring conformity with project scope and design standards, and collaborating with the project team on various infrastructure components.

Why did you choose this career?

I chose this career because I've always been curious about how things work and passionate about solving real-world problems. Growing up in the Permian Basin, I was inspired by the infrastructure that powers communities and wanted to contribute to building and improving the community of the West Texas region.

What Core Value resonates with you the most?

I identify most with integrity because it is the foundation of trust and reliability, both in personal relationships and professional. To me, integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
