Tye Sikes
Graduate Engineer
Tye Sikes is a Graduate Engineer at Dunaway’s Midland office whose passion for civil engineering is evident in his work. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UT Permian Basin and is in the process of obtaining his Engineer in Training Certification. Tye is also skilled in CAD-based Mechanical Design. Despite beginning his professional journey with minimal experience, his prior roles in the food service industry and an internship at Ref-Chem have provided him with a strong work ethic and adaptability. Currently, as a Graduate Engineer, Tye is honing his skills in Civil3D and contributing to roadway projects, while also broadening his knowledge of industry standards in Civil Engineering. He is adept in 3D CAD Modeling with SolidWorks, Python programming, and has a surprising affinity for Microsoft Excel, which he finds enjoyable. Tye’s career is marked by a commitment to seeing projects through from start to finish, with a keen eye on their progression through various stages.

Why did you choose this career?
I chose this career to use my knowledge to serve and better my community. I like to be able to look at something and say "I helped make that possible."
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any interesting hobbies?
I enjoy finding random things I may need or find useful and trying to design them in SolidWorks and even 3D print them!
Where is your favorite place in the world?
My favorite place in the world is a baseball field. I grew up playing baseball and never lost interest in it.
Do you have a favorite holiday?
My favorite holiday has to be Thanksgiving. It's the time of year I get to see family I usually don't get to see. A close second would be New Years. Something about the start of a new year intrigues me. I'm not sure why, but it's something I find interesting.
