Dunaway was responsible for designing the western 1,700 linear feet of two-lane roadway, a roundabout at Keller-Smithfield intersection, and 2,030 linear feet of storm drainage improvements. To alleviate flooding occurring for residents along Johnson Road, the existing two-lane asphalt rural section with roadside bar ditches transitioned to two-lane concrete pavement with curb and gutter. Dunaway evaluated several drainage solutions, ultimately designing a cost-effective single underground storm system to convey the drainage east to an outfall at Bear Creek tributary. To meet resident requests to limit the amount of tree removals, Dunaway gave careful consideration to the horizontal placement of pedestrian and roadway improvements as well as the vertical placement of the roadway without negatively impacting the drainage design.
