Mary Will Craig Park is a 10-acre neighborhood park that experienced a complete renovation in 2023. Originally opened in 1998, this renovation project allowed the City to make significant changes to the park’s design and flow for a better visitor experience.

Park improvements included a new playground with poured-in-place surfacing, a skate spot, ballfield enhancements, a barrier-free playground with asphalt running track, full-use baseball diamond, open turf play area, existing basketball court enhancements, an ADA portable restroom, and landscape/irrigation enhancements. The poured-in-place surfacing allowed the City an opportunity to have a 100% ADA-accessible playground area.

Additionally, the park features a looped hike and bike trail that runs along Bois D ’Arc Rd and Dowell Street. This trail, positioned to the North of the open play areas, offers visitors an opportunity to engage in physical activity while keeping a watchful eye on their children participating in sports or training sessions. The same looped trail also provides a similar experience as it runs along the West side of the baseball diamond that is fenced in for all age levels. This looped trail winds around the perimeter of the park and past a nicely designed outdoor classroom for the students and staff that attend Slaughter Elementary School that share Mary Will Craig Park as their playground home.
