The City of Fort Worth’s Park Vista Boulevard Extension relied on the design expertise of Dunaway to provide connectivity along the corridor and provide access from adjacent residential neighborhoods to future residential and retail development. Dunaway provided civil engineering, environmental engineering, survey, hydraulics & hydrology, and planning + landscape architecture, and traffic services on the new one-mile extension of a four-lane divided major arterial between Ray White Road and Keller-Hicks Road in north Fort Worth. The project includes four roundabouts, three large diameter water line relocations, and a 200-foot long three-span bridge, and a 50-foot bridge-class multi-box culvert over the existing tributary of Big Bear Creek.
Dunaway provided innovative solutions to the problematic angles at the intersection at Park Vista Boulevard and Keller Hicks Road by efficiently linking the two four-lane arterial roads with a roundabout. The project also included roundabouts at three major intersections along the corridor to provide operational continuity and create a unique sense of place. Two of the roundabouts were designed to be multi-lane, with one including by-pass right turn lanes. The remaining roundabout was designed as a temporary single-lane roundabout which would be upgraded to a multi-lane during future roadway widening.
The extension project also includes underground drainage design, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS modeling, flood studies, coordination with local Floodplain Administrators and FEMA, bridge design, roadway design, landscaping, and irrigation design, roundabout design and analysis, environmental permitting (individual permit), bike lane design, sidewalk, and ADA curb ramps, street light design, waterline design, right-of-way and easement document preparation and coordination with developers and the cities of Fort Worth, Keller and Southlake.
