Schiller Drive, an existing residential street in North Richland Hills, was identified as needing complete reconstruction under the 44th Year Tarrant County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) due to degrading concrete curbs and gutters and aging asphalt pavement.

Dunaway was selected to provide civil and environmental engineering on the reconstruction project, which includes the design of a concrete pavement roadway and the addition of 4-foot-wide concrete sidewalks.

The existing neighborhood includes mature trees, landscaping improvements, and mailboxes within the parkway, which provided a design challenge. Since there were no storm drain inlets along the street, the team was required to maintain a minimum street grade to capture and convey all stormwater runoff to the intersecting street and valley gutter.

Dunaway saved time and money by keeping the proposed sidewalk within the existing right of way and minimizing the impact on the surrounding private properties.
