TRWD Recreation Master Plan

Dunaway provided comprehensive Planning and Landscape Architecture services to support the development of the Tarrant Regional Water District’s (TRWD) first-ever Recreation Master Plan. The process was rooted in robust public engagement, ensuring that community voices played a central role in shaping the vision for recreation along the Trinity River and Tarrant County lakes.

The resulting plan outlines a safe, interconnected network of trails, parks, and natural spaces that enhance access to the water while promoting sustainable land and resource stewardship. A key challenge was balancing TRWD’s core mission of water supply with growing public interest in recreation. The final plan successfully integrates community trail connections and increased water access while preserving the integrity of TRWD’s environmental responsibilities.
