Q+A

Why did you choose this career?

I chose civil engineering from a young age because I had relatives that were civil engineers and I loved to hear about their jobs. As I grew up and learned more about the civil field, I fell in love with structural engineering. Math was always my favorite subject so getting to do design work that involved math wound up being the perfect place for me.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any interesting hobbies?

I love to be outside when I'm not working. Fishing is my favorite outdoor activity, but I also like to hike, swim, grill, and sit around bonfires. I love spending time with my friends and family and am always down for board games. I also love sports, and being from Indiana, basketball is my favorite to play and watch. I also like Sunday mornings at my church and serving there whenever I get the chance.

Where is your favorite place in the world?

I don't know if I could choose one certain city, but being on a lake fishing in the morning hours or just being at home playing games with my family are two places that are hard to beat.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

I think the best gift I ever received was more of an experience than a possession. I was given two tickets to go to a Milwaukee Bucks basketball game on my birthday with someone special to me. This was my first ever NBA game and my first chance to watch my favorite basketball player so this was a really remarkable experience.

What was your first job?

My first unofficial job was working for the dairy farmer down the street from my house. I would drive my 4-wheeler down to help walk beans and pick sweet corn every morning for the roadside stand.
