Q+A
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any interesting hobbies?
We have been working on our landscaping which has become a hobby. It has been fun to "design" and arrange plants to improve our backyard space and provide curb appeal. It is now my mission to get "yard of the month".
Where is your favorite place in the world?
Historically, I would say Jones Stadium watching a Texas Tech football game. #wreckem
Why did you choose this career?
I had a high school guidance counselor that suggested engineering since I was naturally good at math and science. My dad also suggested that I NOT become a farmer and find another line of work with more stability. I took both suggestions to heart and gravitated toward civil engineering. It is extremely rewarding to design and develop infrastructure that people use every day.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
A video my wife put together for my 40th birthday. She had my friends, family, teachers, coaches, and co-workers each submit a short video that she compiled. They each shared a story or memory of me from over the years.
Do you have a favorite holiday?
The 4th of July. We always get friends and family together at my parent's house to cook out, eat great food, and make homemade ice cream. I would also take my nieces and nephews outside to light fireworks and make their parents extremely nervous.
