Q+A

Why did you choose this career?

I chose this career because I want to work with others and do meaningful work that improves society. I work best when I am part of a team, and I enjoy being a part of a team composed of people with different expertise. Compared to other types of engineering, civil engineering is unique because every project is unique and gives the opportunity to interact with a diverse team of engineers and to work with municipalities and clients to provide the infrastructure that improves public welfare. I also feel that as time goes on demand for water will greatly increase and that by doing work to help meet this demand I will be helping others

What Core Value resonates with you the most?

I identify the most with respect. I feel that it is incredibly important to show respect to everyone, especially towards your clients, team members, and supervisors. Even if you have a disagreement with someone, it is important that you still show them respect so that you can work to settle the disagreement and preserve the relationship.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any interesting hobbies?

In my free time, I enjoy watching comedies and reading international news. I also enjoy reading and listening to audiobooks, with my favorite genre being dark comedies and satire. My hobbies include fishing, wake surfing, kayaking, and going on nature walks.

Where is your favorite place in the world?

My favorite place is Medina Lake, which is a lake northwest of San Antonio. I grew up on this lake and I have always enjoyed spending time near water. Plus, it is a great spot for fishing and water sports.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

The best gift I ever received was my first wakeboard. Wakeboarding has been one of my favorite things to do, and I still use that wakeboard after having it for over ten years.

What was your first job?

My first job was hosting carnival games at Six-Flags Fiesta Texas. I worked carnival games including balloon darts, ring toss, and many more. Let me know if you want to hear the secrets to winning these games.
