Todd Rutland is a Senior Survey Technician in Dunaway’s Dallas office. His career in land surveying began when his brother got him a job at his first firm, where they ran a field crew together. Todd holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Technology from the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Before joining Dunaway, he worked in the oil and gas, residential, and commercial surveying industries. At Eagle Surveying, he managed the drafting department, coordinated scheduling, trained new drafters, and performed QA/QC procedures. Todd specializes in title surveys, CAT1A surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic exhibits, plats, easement exhibits, and both aerial and terrestrial scanning surveys. He is proficient in various software programs, including CIVIL3D, Microstation, LP360, Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, Trimble SketchUp, and Leica Cyclone.

Why did you choose this career?

Ever since my first land surveying class in college, I have always had a strong interest in a surveying career path. I became interested in the field because of all the different industries it could apply to, from residential and commercial to oil and gas.

What Core Value resonates with you the most?

I identify most with the core value of Honesty. I pride myself on being a man of my word and appreciate the same value in others above all.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any interesting hobbies?

In my spare time, I like to shoot street photography, build and ride motorcycles, and go fishing.
