Through an exciting collaboration between the City of Coppell and the Dunaway Design Team, a dynamic vision for the redevelopment of Andrew Brown Park was created to make the City’s signature park in the heart of town one of the greatest parks in North Texas. Coppell leaders realized that creating a signature park would activate the community and provide enjoyable public spaces for local citizens throughout the year. The Dunaway planning team facilitated community focus group discussions to address the overall vision for the park, as well as new programming ideas to expand the dynamic uses within the park. This is showcased at the Civic Green, a central green space fronting the water that is used as a grand gathering space for seasonal festivities.
In addition, Dunaway was excited to design a re-branded softball complex and multi-use field area for local leagues and regional competitions. The consolidation of sports at Andrew Brown West not only made things more functional, but also gave the opportunity to create a destination facility. The Dunaway team showcased this with distinct architectural materials, expressive of the Coppell community. Traditional forms and rich masonry materials brand the architectural structures at both the softball complex and the multi-use field complex. A centralized family recreation area offers a pavilion, playground, picnicking, basketball courts and sand volleyball.
