Recognized by Time Magazine as one of the World’s Greatest Places to Visit in 2018, the Austin Central Library continues to receive praise from national and local media alike. Dunaway assisted with district planning and civil engineering for the library, which includes permitting and processing of variance, as well as coordination with adjacent creek bank and street design, and bidding and construction phase services.
The design includes bike parking in addition to a 200-space parking garage for easy access. Public spaces near the library feature tree-lined sidewalks, curb-less streets suitable for festivals and events, and a new vehicle and pedestrian bridge over Shoal Creek, as well as native plants to restore and stabilize the creek banks.
