Dunaway was the civil engineering consultant for Meadows Elementary School in Meadows Place, Texas. This proposed school sits on a 9-acre site and is designated to replace the existing elementary. The new school is designed for LEED certification and requires sufficient open space areas while sustaining or minimizing the proposed impervious cover. Our team designed the 88,000 square foot school to accommodate the necessary stacking requirements and dimensions for the bus lane, while also allowing for fire lane access. The unique shape of the building, and the maintenance of the existing adjacent park, necessitated a storm design that would outfall the existing storm pipe but avoid encroaching on the open space in the baseball field and running track. Our team met the challenge and succeeded in designing a beautiful school for the Meadows Place Community.
