Dunaway’s landscape architects supported the revitalization of St. John’s Seminary, a once-forgotten campus adjacent to the historic Mission Concepcion. The project has breathed new life into the space for the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The design includes a cafeteria and conference center, now rebranded as the Pope Francis Event Center and Padre Margil Pilgrimage Center. At the heart of the campus, Dunaway crafted an inviting courtyard beneath the existing pecan trees, creating an outdoor assembly area that connects each building. The courtyard’s design is accentuated by a tranquil runnel water feature, which delineates the space and is complemented by an adjacent lawn area. This project has not only redefined the campus’s aesthetic but also forged a communal hub for spiritual and cultural gatherings.
