Dunaway provided structural engineering services for Bastrop ISD’s Adelton Elementary School, a 105,000-square-foot, two-story campus designed to serve 850 students and support rapid growth on the district’s south side. Located within the Adelton master-planned community, the school helps address increasing enrollment while establishing a new educational hub in a developing corridor. Delivered through a CM-at-Risk partnership with American Constructors and VLK Architects, the project was designed on an accelerated schedule to align with the district’s bond program goals and budget.

The structural system was designed to balance durability, efficiency, and speed to construction, utilizing tilt-up insulated concrete panels, structural steel framing, and a composite floor system. Shallow spread footing foundations were maintained through close coordination with the contractor and geotechnical team, supported by strategic site grading adjustments. Early steel package issuance and the use of load-bearing tilt-wall panels helped streamline construction and meet schedule demands, while integrated firewall design enhanced safety and functionality across key campus areas.
