Project Engineer
Sean Smith is a Project Engineer in Dunaway’s Austin office. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Safety Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from A&M University. Sean’s passion for math and science, combined with his desire to make a positive impact on society, led him to pursue a career in engineering. He was particularly drawn to structural engineering, where he could apply his knowledge to investigate structural failures and prevent accidents. Sean currently focuses on projects in the commercial, healthcare, and K-12 education market sectors. With his strong educational background and dedication to his work, Sean is a valuable asset to the Dunaway team.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any interesting hobbies?
I like to read, play video games, watch sci-fi shows, and learn Arabic. I am also a member of American Coaster Enthusiasts and travel to theme parks all over the country.
Do you have a favorite holiday?
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because the food is great, the weather is cool but not too cold, and I get to see my family all in one place.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
A gift certificate for a demonstration flight, which ultimately led me to get my pilot's license.
What was your first job?
I was a cashier at a video rental store in high school.
Why did you choose this career?
I wanted to work in a field that applied my aptitude for math and science and benefited the most people. Although I studies aviation safety in college, I was fascinated by the structural failure aspect of accident investigation and wants to become a structural engineer.
