The Arnold Wing addition to the Museum of Texas Tech University began as an exploration of how to incorporate light into the otherwise brutalist mass of the existing Museum. With a generous gift from the Arnold Family Foundation, including a substantial collection of regionally-significant pottery, the design team provided concepts to further enhance the connection between the Museum and the National Ranching Heritage Center, express and connect visitors with the native Llano Estacado region, and provide a new experience for museum guests.
With a significant drainage channel bisecting the site, the Dunaway team provided surveying, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services to holistically address stormwater management while providing protected outdoor gathering spaces and areas for sculpture, with a context of Llano Estacado vegetation and forms.
